Edge compares how many top prizes are unclaimed against how many tickets are
unsold. Above 1.00x the top prize is more likely per ticket than at launch.
But "remaining" means unclaimed, not unsold — winners have
months to claim, so a prize counted here may already be sitting in someone's
glovebox. That risk is highest on the near-sold-out games that score best.
The confidence chip shows how tightly the underlying prize counts agree —
a "weak estimate" edge can be off by far more than it appears.
What each number means
- Edge
- Top prizes still unclaimed, divided by tickets still unsold. Above 1.00x the top prize is more likely per ticket than at launch; below 1.00x it is less likely than the ticket advertises. This is the whole point of the app — "prizes remaining" on its own tells you nothing, because a game can hold every prize and have sold no tickets.
- % Sold
- Estimated share of the print run already bought. No lottery publishes this, so it is read off mid-tier prize counts — small prizes get claimed at the register almost immediately, so how many are gone tracks how many tickets are gone. The very lowest tiers are excluded because people discard small winners, which makes those tiers read high.
- Odds then → now
- Top-prize odds when the game launched, versus what they are today given what is left. This is the same information as Edge, in the units printed on the back of the ticket.
- EV / $1
- Expected return per dollar spent, from all prizes still unclaimed. Below $1.00 is a losing bet on average. Treat this as the softest number here: it is dominated by one or two enormous prizes, so the typical outcome is far worse than the average.
- Confidence chip
- How tightly the mid-tier prize counts agree with each other, which is the real error bar on Edge. Edge divides by tickets-unsold, so as a game nears sell-out that denominator shrinks and small errors explode — on a game 97% sold, being off by one point moves Edge by about a third. A weak estimate can be off by far more than it looks.

- Every top prize has been claimed, but the game is still on shelves. You would be paying full price for a jackpot that cannot be won. Hidden by default.
